Wisdom Gaming Renews Partnership with Riot Games for Teamfight Tactics Monsters Attack!

Wisdom Gaming, the emerging leader in esports and gaming entertainment, today announced its renewed partnership with Riot Games for Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Monsters Attack! competitive tournament circuit in North America (NA). This  marks Wisdom Gaming’s sixth season as the official broadcast production and tournament organizer for the NA competitive circuit.

"The excitement coming off of Set 7 has been incredible, and we can't wait to continue creating content for the TFT community."

Teamfight Tactics Monsters Attack! will kick off with the Defender Cup on January 14, 2022, and will conclude with the North America Regional Finals on May 12, 2022. The competitive circuit will determine who will represent North America at the Monsters Attack! World Championship. 

Defender Cup and Corrupted Cup

Defender Cup: January 14th-15th & January 21st-22nd

Corrupted Cup: February 11th-12th & February 18th-19th

The Defender Cup and the Corrupted Cup will kick off the competitive scene this winter! For full format details, visit the official NA TFT esports website

Each Cup will be a 4-day, 2-weekend event with the Top 160 ranked sign-ups receiving an invite. 128 of the 160 players will participate in play-ins on Day 1. The Top 64 players from Day 1 will move onto Day 2 of play-ins.

The Top 32 sign-ups will automatically qualify for Day 3 where they’ll be joined by the remaining 32 players from play-ins.

The Top 4 players from each Cup will qualify for the Monsters Attack! Mid-Set Finale. Every participating player will also have the chance to earn Qualifier Points based on their final placement.

Monsters Attack! Mid-Set Finale

March 3rd-5th

The best players will be showing off their skills and superpowers at the Monsters Attack! Mid-Set Finale.

Over 3 days of gameplay, this event will feature the Top 4 players from both the Defender Cup and the Corrupted Cup and the Top 24 players from Qualifier Points.

The 5th-8th place players will automatically qualify for Day 3 of the Mecha Cup in Set 8.5. The 1st-4th place players will directly qualify for the Monsters Attack! NA Regional Finals. 

First place will receive an invite to the Monsters Attack! Championship.

Mecha Cup

April 15th-16th & April 22nd-23rd

The Mecha Cup is our first competitive event in North America for Set 8.5. It will follow the same format as the first 2 cups: 2 days of play-ins followed by semifinals and finals the next weekend.

The Top 4 players from the Mecha Cup will directly qualify to the Monsters Attack! NA Regional Finals. Players will receive Qualifier Points based on their final placement.

North American Last Chance Qualifier

April 29th-30th

At the North American Last Chance Qualifier, invited players will have one last shot at qualifying for the Monsters Attack! NA Regional Finals.

Invites will be extended to the Top 16 player sign-ups based on a leaderboard snapshot. The Top 2 players from this event will qualify for the NA Regional Finals.

Monsters Attack! NA Regional Finals

May 12th-14th

Our final event for the NA competitive scene will determine who represents North America at the Monsters Attack! World Championship.

24 players will compete in a 3-day tournament. Invites will be extended to the Top 10 players from Qualifier Points, the Top 2 leaderboard point earners from each of the Set 8 and Set 8.5 leaderboard snapshots, the Top 4 players from the Mid-Set Finale, the Top 4 players from the Mecha Cup, and the Top 2 players from the Last Chance Qualifier.

The number of top players who will qualify for the Monsters Attack! World Championship or the Western Last Chance Qualifier will be announced at a later date. The player with the highest average placement across the entire event will also receive a spot at the World Championship.

Qualifier Points

Qualifier points are back for Monsters Attack! competitive events. Players can earn Qualifier Points from all 3 Cups, with increasing point values in later tournaments.

Prize Pools

If you thought Rammus finally being added to TFT was a momentous occasion, we’ve got more exciting news - the total prize pool across the NA competitive set is now $100k!

Here’s a breakdown of the prizing:

  • Qualifier Point Cups - $12.5k each (increased by $5k each)
  • Mid-Set Finale - $25k (increased by $5k)
  • NA Regional Finals - $35k (increased by $10k)
  • NA Last Chance Qualifier - $2.5k

Official Leaderboard Snapshots

Finally, leaderboard snapshots are once again returning to reward players who consistently maintain a high rank on the TFT leaderboard.

In Set 8, snapshots will be taken weekly on Wednesdays at 12:01 AM PDT starting on December 21st and ending on March 1st. As a reminder, the week of December 28th will be skipped due to the holidays. In Set 8.5 (after a points reset), snapshots will be taken weekly on Wednesdays at 12:01 AM PDT starting on March 29th and ending on April 19th.

To be eligible, players must have at least 10 ranked games on the same account each week a snapshot is taken.
